Heights Mom's Group and Dr. Seuss Celebration

Tuesday, March 4th, 10:30 is the date and time for HEI to formally(?) show off the new items purchased with funds donated by the Heights Mom's Group. Dr. Seuss will attend and Happy the Clown will entertain. This is not a private party as the group received formal (refreshments even) recognition from HPL Administration and the Houston Public Library Foundation already. Additionally, that week is Read Across America Week with public events at most libraries in the country. Kelly is working on plans for a Dr. Seuss Day and will be sharing information as it firms up.
Promotional flier and bookmark in the works. Staff, not mandatory, but it would be cheery and festive if you wear Dr. Seuss hats on this day. HEI will provide these.

Items selected by Sara and Laurie. All very colorful to brighten the children's area.
To date the library has received:

Display for flimseys
Seating for little bottoms (backs have storage space for books)
Wall art ( not up yet, have to buy velcro)
Puppet Tree (storage/display)
Activity Center (housed in meeting room for programming because of HUGE noise factor on public
floor)

Additionally, funds were apllied to refinishing the rockers that live in that family space. Return date of these items is not known. Child-friendly computer work stations were selected, but nixed by Planning and Facilities.
