No postings during SRP months - hmmmmm, wonder why...
The BIGGEST change for HEI has been the addition of new staff -Kelly Patton & Evelyn Carranza. Heights staffing is now complete. Do I hear a big sigh of relief!
Kelly is the new Juvenile Services Librarian/Assistant Manager, transitioning from Park Place BTOP. The families have been impressed with her guitar playing during weekly programs. What stuck in my head was her comment that she's not afraid of anything, "I taught high school".
Evelyn comes to us from the private sector and has always wanted to work in the library field. YEA!!! She is filling the CSC position, vacant many months. She is seeing library services from another perspective and has commented on the detail and many tasks we do daily. She is impressed with the quantity of business we have at this location.
Please keep up with all the SIRSI emails. It would be a good idea to have a brief SIRSI meeting on Fridays to review and share. We are not yet floating or marking items as missing (paging slips). The catalog is still a challenge. Depending on the customer's need and time frame consider calling a location for a shelf check, rather just placing a HOLD. HOLDS have improved in general, and customers are now receiving notices to pick up items. Without the automatic HOLDS wrapper component, processing takes a lot of staff time. Thanks to everyone for sharing in that load. HEI receives lots of HOLDS, and we need to try hard to get them all processed and shelved for pick-up by the end of the day.
Announced without much discussion at the July Manager's Meeting is the change in Neighborhood Library Administration of Team Leader location assignments. Effective September 1st, Theodora Um-Ezeoke will be responsible for HEI NL. We will be saying good-bye to Laurie Covington who has been associated with this library for many years serving as Manager then Team Leader.
