Incident Reports-Change in Procedure
The staff member who witnesses the incidentcis responsible for completing & submitting the report. If multiple staff are witnesses, each person must file a report. This is not optional. Incident forms are located on the HPL Intranet and must be submitted through Outlook. Include the What, When, Where...details. Do not use abbreviations such as HPL or Milcirc or any other jargon as this is a legal document. Be sure to include the HPD or HFD incident or case number, names of the responding officers & badge numbers. If incident/case number is not available state that. Contact HPD/HFD within 24 hr-36 hrs, request the case number and submit that to Frederick Lee. A copy of all incidents submitted should be copied to my attentioned. If the customer does not want HPD contacted, state that in the report. Training will be provided on how to complete and submit the report.



Clutter in the Library
Branch-produced signage must be on one of the HPL-logo templates located on the intranet. Only HPL-approved adhesives may be used. Priority is given to official HPL, COH, Harris County, U.S. Community events may be displayed only with the Manager's approval. Signs should be displayed on slat walls or in designated tack board areas. There may be some exceptions to bulletin boards in the Children's and YA areas.


BTOP Grant
HPL has received a grant that will fund tech workers at library locations. This will allow additional computer classes throughout HPL. Heights NL has already been approached as a site for offering classes four days per week. Nothing confirmed. Stay tuned.

On-call Customer Service Clerks
HPL will soon begin promoting available position for on-call Customer Service Clerks. This pool of staff will fill in at locations experiencing shortages due to vacations, illness, or other reason. Their training will be classroom and on the job. They will be paid $14/hr. If they are called to work, they will work a minimum of 4 hours. They will not be bonded so they cannot perform any Smart Money functions.
There are also patron privacy issues that need to be resolved. This program is privately funded. More information will be forthcoming.
